Kotara - One-punch elf by mysticx1 Kotara - One-punch elf by mysticx1
Fulanu takes the brunt of another of my experiments with visual effects, i went for a bit of fight-manga inspired mayhem here, using shapes originally intended for fires, it's a bit haphazard, but it looks decent...ish...

Edit: i made an attempt to blur out the effect bits using the "Smudge brush" (Smearing them out a bit to make them look less plastic-y), so is it an improvement?

Fulanu is a female orc, orcs are strong and tough, but slower in movement, so she's pretty much doomed really...   :meow:

I didn't know that there were female orcs.

There would have to be, how else do you replenish the orc population once the local adventurers have been around?   :meow:

I personally find the effects a bit too simple and solid, i'll try Erazer941's suggestion of using motion blur on them, maybe that makes them just blurry enough to work...

I figured it was time for somebody else to take a few punches, and knocking an orc off her feet is a more impressive feat than beating the attitude out of BEPB again.  :P

Motion blur would be a good addition to the current effects

In Paintshop pro 2018, motion blur applied to the entire picture, and that would be very over-the-top except for maybe first-person "Getting punched"-pictures...

I use the free Gimp program and with some practice you can do the blur on select objects.

True, but she won’t have to take many more of those... before keeling over.  :P

Fulanu is a female orc, the puffed cheeks and spit cover up her tusks though.

The swing and back-shockwave should have opacity dialed down a bit, the foot-bits are fine though, given the light background...

This is just an experiment anyway, it’s tough to show speed and impact with still images.

Ah, post-work is one of the things i haven’t really studied yet, beyond fixing up render-flaws, that is...

Sometimes certain textures come across a bit spotty, and i then try to use some photo correction filters (“remove noise” and such), or brightness/contrast adjustment if the lighting is a bit off, stuff like that.

And of course copy/pasting that little emblem on the bottom right of the picture.  :P

Ah, i have seen that one in the menus, the English term is “Motion blur”, i sometimes use Depth-of-field to get the same effect, but motion blur could be a solution for pictures where the motion is left-to-right instead of forward-to-back, i guess i’ll experiment a bit with one of my older renders...
